Remembering Ben

Dr. Benjamin Villasol Lozare, a devoted family man, teacher, and lifelong learner, was "called up" on February 8, 2024, and now joins the stars he often gazed at from his telescope in Columbia, MD, and from mountains and deserts around the world.

This online magazine, Bitesize, was inspired by his words and deeds, as witnessed by our Chief Editor, Hyewon, over 15 years as his mentee and friend. (He insisted on being called Ben, not Prof. Lozare).

"In the study of flows, the Eulerian frame describes the movement of flow through space from a fixed perspective, while the Lagrangian frame moves along with the flow, stretching and bending with it. Although the equations used in both frames differ, they ultimately produce the same results. However, when comparing observations of social processes using Eulerian and Lagrangian frames, the findings are likely to differ due to the distinct perspectives each frame provides."
